Cabrits National Park

About This Tour

Hike, explore, and rewind the past as we trek through this historical national park in the north! Brimming with rich history, Cabrits National Park features timeless artifacts that remain in excellent condition today.

This small, 2.05-square-mile (5.30 sq km) park is located on a peninsula at the northern tip of Dominica, nestled beautifully between two extinct volcanic summits that frame a striking beach. The park protects diverse ecosystems, including lush tropical forests, vibrant wetlands, and thriving offshore coral reefs that attract snorkelers and divers from worldwide.

Cabrits is also home to Fort Shirley, a historic military outpost established by the British in 1765 and later expanded by the French. The fort originally featured over 50 buildings—including barracks and storage facilities—along with strategic, hilltop fortified walls equipped with historic cannons used to monitor the expansive waterway below.
